If you account for the value difference the original price Canadians paid was on par with the USD. This is literally just a tax on paying in CAD. It is literally just cheaper to buy USD and pay with that. It doesn't sound like a lot but that is almost a 16% increase over the USD cost per month. To clarify, if you pay in CAD, you are effectively paying $17.35 USD per month now, it was originally very close to the $14.99 USD (converted to CAD) mark any American pays now. It has been in the past and no correction was ever made. It takes more CAD to make USD than it does USD to make CAD.
